What this calculator does

This calculator converts one known gross wage into hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly equivalents. It is useful for comparing job offers stated in different pay periods, estimating the annual value of an hourly rate, checking how a shorter or longer work schedule changes equivalent pay, and translating a salary into a practical hourly figure. It is a conversion tool, not a payroll or tax calculator: it does not calculate withholding, overtime premiums, paid time off, bonuses, commissions, benefits, or take-home pay.

When to use it

Use it when one employer quotes an hourly rate and another quotes an annual salary; when planning a budget from weekly or monthly gross income; when checking whether a part-time schedule produces the expected annual earnings; or when preparing a consistent wage figure for a negotiation. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics commonly converts hourly wages to annual rates using a 2,080-hour work year, which equals 40 hours per week for 52 weeks, while this calculator lets you replace the daily hours and weekly days with your own schedule.

How to calculate

Input guide

Hourly wage is a required nonnegative U.S.-dollar amount per working hour. Enter plain decimal notation such as 28.50; a dollar sign and comma grouping are also accepted. Increasing it raises every converted wage. Do not enter overtime-inclusive blended pay unless that is the rate you want to compare. Daily wage is the gross amount for one workday, such as 228.00. It is divided by Hours per day to find the hourly basis, so pairing it with the wrong day length produces a misleading conversion.

Weekly wage is the gross amount for one workweek, such as 1,140.00. It is divided by total weekly hours. Monthly wage is a gross calendar-month amount, such as 4,940.00; this model treats it as one-twelfth of annual wage, not four times weekly pay. Yearly wage is annual gross base pay, such as 59,280.00, and is divided by 52 weeks and the chosen weekly hours. Each wage field is required only when it is the active source; blanking all wage fields is invalid.

Hours per day is a required positive number from 0.01 to 24, such as 8. It controls the relationship between hourly and daily pay. Working days per week is a required positive number from 0.01 to 7, such as 5. It controls weekly hours and therefore hourly, weekly, and annual conversions. Fractional schedules are allowed, but the entries should describe a typical paid schedule rather than occasional overtime.

Output guide

Estimated yearly wage is the primary gross annual equivalent. Hourly wage, Daily wage, Weekly wage, and Monthly wage are exact identities under the entered schedule and the calculator's 52-week, 12-month convention. A zero source wage produces zero in every period; a higher schedule changes the hourly equivalent of a fixed salary but does not change that fixed yearly source. The summary pills repeat the hourly, weekly, and yearly values for quick scanning. The Pay-period comparison table shows each period, the schedule basis used, and the estimated gross wage. These values are estimates of base pay timing, not recommendations or take-home amounts.

Worked example

With the startup example, weekly hours equal 8 hours per day × 5 days = 40 hours. Weekly wage equals $28.50 × 40 = $1,140.00. Yearly wage equals $1,140.00 × 52 = $59,280.00, and monthly wage equals $59,280.00 ÷ 12 = $4,940.00. Those exact values appear in the first-open controls, result cards, table, and workbook. Interpreting wage conversions responsibly

A conversion is only as accurate as its schedule assumptions. A fixed annual salary does not necessarily rise when actual hours rise; instead, its effective hourly value falls. Likewise, hourly workers may have unpaid time, variable weeks, or overtime that makes actual annual earnings differ from the simple 52-week estimate.
