How to use the Pascal conversion calculator

What this calculator does. This calculator translates one pressure measurement expressed in pascals into bar, standard atmospheres, pounds per square inch, torr, and kilopascals. It is useful when a specification, laboratory result, weather instrument, pneumatic component, or engineering document uses a different pressure unit from the one you need. The conversion is an exact unit relationship subject only to displayed rounding; it does not determine whether a pressure is safe for a particular vessel, machine, tire, medical device, or process.

When to use it. Use it to compare a 100,000 Pa sensor reading with bar or atmospheric pressure, translate a metric equipment rating into psi, convert vacuum or laboratory readings to torr, or check calculations before entering values into a report. The pascal is the SI derived unit of pressure, equal to one newton per square metre, as explained by the International Bureau of Weights and Measures overview of SI units.

Input guide. Pressure in pascals is the only required input. Enter a non-negative ordinary decimal in Pa, such as 100000, 2500.5, or 0. A period is the accepted decimal separator. Do not enter commas as decimal marks, unit letters, percentages, or scientific notation such as 1e5. Higher input pressure raises every converted result in direct proportion; doubling pascals doubles bar, atm, psi, torr, and kPa. Zero is valid and means zero gauge magnitude in every displayed unit, although the calculator does not distinguish absolute pressure from gauge pressure. Negative pressure values are rejected because this utility is designed for non-negative pressure magnitudes.

Output guide. Pressure in bars is the primary result and divides pascals by 100,000. Pressure in atmospheres uses the standard atmosphere definition of 101,325 Pa. Pressure in pounds per square inch converts to the common imperial engineering unit psi. Pressure in torr is useful in vacuum and laboratory contexts. Pressure in kilopascals divides pascals by 1,000. Each output is a conversion identity, not an estimate. The summary pills repeat the three most commonly compared units, and the Conversion details table lists Unit, Symbol, Pascal relationship, and Converted value. Very small pressures may display as zero at the chosen precision even though the workbook preserves the canonical numeric value.

Worked example. With the opening value of 100,000 Pa, bar equals 100,000 ÷ 100,000 = 1 bar. Atmospheres equal 100,000 ÷ 101,325 = 0.986923 atm. Psi equals 100,000 ÷ 6,894.757293 = 14.5038 psi. Torr equals 100,000 ÷ 133.322368 = 750.062 torr, and kilopascals equal 100,000 ÷ 1,000 = 100 kPa. These figures match the first-open cards, table, live summary, and workbook checkpoints.
