Millimeters is the single required input. Enter a non-negative finite decimal in millimeters, using a period for the decimal separator. A realistic value is 1000 mm. Larger values produce proportionally larger feet and inches; zero converts exactly to zero. Negative lengths, scientific notation, comma decimals, mixed unit text, and nonnumeric characters are rejected so that ambiguous input is not silently reinterpreted.

Formula, precision, and common mistakes
The conversion formula is feet = millimeters ÷ 304.8. The reverse relationship is millimeters = feet × 304.8. Because 1 foot equals exactly 0.3048 metre and one millimetre is one-thousandth of a metre, the factor is exact. The only approximation occurs when a displayed result is rounded.
For quick mental estimation, 300 mm is close to one foot, but that shortcut is not exact and becomes less reliable over long distances. Keep the full calculator result for engineering, fabrication, or repeated calculations, then round only to the precision justified by the original measurement. A common mistake is multiplying by 304.8 when converting millimeters to feet; multiplication is the reverse direction. Another is treating the decimal part of feet as inches. For example, 3.28 feet is not 3 feet 28 inches. Multiply the fractional foot by 12 to obtain the inch remainder.
