What this calculator does
This calculator converts mass between kilograms and international avoirdupois ounces. It is useful when a metric measurement must be restated in the ounce unit commonly used for everyday goods in the United States and in some imperial-unit contexts. The converter also shows grams and avoirdupois pounds so you can cross-check the result in related mass units. It performs a unit identity, not an estimate of an object's density, shipping cost, nutritional content, or legal trade weight. When to use it

Input guide
Kilograms is a required non-negative decimal mass in kg. Enter digits with an optional decimal point, for example 2.5. Commas, scientific notation, unit letters, negative values, and nonnumeric text are rejected rather than silently reinterpreted. Increasing kilograms increases every equivalent mass proportionally. A common mistake is typing “1,5” for one and a half; this calculator uses a decimal point, so enter “1.5”.
Ounces is also a required non-negative decimal when used as the edited source field. Enter avoirdupois ounces, for example 16. Changing ounces recalculates kilograms by dividing by the conversion factor. Do not enter fluid ounces, which measure volume, and do not substitute troy ounces. The NIST conversion-factor table distinguishes the avoirdupois and troy ounce values.
Output guide
Ounces is the primary converted mass, displayed to eight decimal places. Kilograms repeats the canonical metric mass. Grams equals kilograms multiplied by 1,000. Avoirdupois pounds uses 16 ounces per pound. Ounces per kilogram is the constant factor 35.27396195, included as a calculation check rather than a changing metric. Zero is valid and means zero mass; larger values scale linearly. The table columns show the same quantities for the current mass, one-half of it, and twice it. All outputs are exact unit conversions within the displayed rounding, not recommendations.
Worked example
With the startup value of 1 kg, multiply by the exact relationship derived from 1 avoirdupois ounce = 0.028349523125 kg: 1 ÷ 0.028349523125 = 35.2739619496... oz. Formula and interpretation
The forward formula is ounces = kilograms × 35.27396194958041. The reverse formula is kilograms = ounces × 0.028349523125. Because the ounce relationship is fixed, the conversion is linear: doubling the source mass doubles every output, and halving it halves every output. Common mistakes
Mass ounces are not fluid ounces. Fluid ounces describe volume and require a density to convert to mass. Also distinguish the avoirdupois ounce from the troy ounce: they are different units despite sharing the same word. Finally, avoid rounding the factor too early. Using 35.27 instead of the full conversion factor may be adequate for a quick mental estimate but accumulates noticeable error for large masses.
