How to use this foot to centimeter calculator

What this calculator does

This converter changes a length between feet and centimeters. It uses the exact international definition that one foot equals 30.48 centimeters, so the conversion itself is an exact identity rather than an estimate. The tool is designed for a single linear measurement. It does not calculate area, volume, body-mass index, or the separate feet-and-inches notation sometimes used for height.

When to use it

How to calculate

Input guide

Foot accepts a required non-negative decimal number when it is the field you are editing. Enter plain en-US decimal notation, such as 7, 5.5, or 0.25. Commas, unit words, scientific notation, negative values, and nonnumeric characters are rejected instead of being silently reinterpreted. Increasing the Foot value increases the centimeter result proportionally. A common mistake is typing a combined height such as “5 ft 8 in”; this converter expects feet as a decimal, so 5 feet 8 inches would first be expressed as approximately 5.6667 feet.

Centimeter follows the same input rules and becomes the source field whenever you edit it. A realistic value is 180 cm. Increasing centimeters increases feet proportionally. Do not add “cm” inside the field because the adjacent unit label already supplies the unit. Zero is valid and converts exactly to zero in the other unit.

Output guide

Converted length is the primary result. Its unit follows the field opposite the one you most recently edited. The secondary Feet and Centimeters cards always show both equivalent values. Worked example
