Input guide

Area value is required and accepts a finite number from 0 through 1,000,000,000. It represents either cents or square meters according to the unit selector. A value such as 12.5 means twelve and one-half cents when cent is selected. A larger input always produces a proportionally larger converted area. Do not paste “12 cents” or “1,5”; those formats are intentionally rejected. Source unit is required and determines the direction of conversion. Switching it changes the meaning of the same numeric value rather than silently converting the input field. Displayed decimal places is required and controls only visible rounding; selecting 6 is useful for technical checks, while 2 is easier for quick reading.

Formula and interpretation

The forward formula is square meters = cents × 40.468564224. The reverse formula is cents = square meters ÷ 40.468564224. The constant comes from the exact identities 100 cents = 1 acre and 1 international acre = 4,046.8564224 square meters. Because this is a linear conversion, doubling the input doubles every area equivalent and changing the display precision never changes the underlying value.

Common mistakes

Do not confuse the land-area cent with a currency cent. Avoid rounding the factor to 40.46 during intermediate work when the result will be used in a survey or accumulated across many parcels. Also distinguish square meters from linear meters: area conversion is not enough to determine frontage, depth, perimeter, or a parcel's shape. Finally, local legal descriptions may use historical or customary terminology, so the unit definition should be confirmed before relying on a conversion in a contract.
