What this calculator does
This converter translates land area between ares and cents. An are is a metric area unit equal to exactly 100 square metres. A cent is one hundredth of an acre, so its size follows the internationally defined acre-to-square-metre relationship. The result is a unit conversion, not a land valuation, legal boundary survey, title measurement, or recommendation about how a parcel should be described in a deed.

Input guide
Ares is a required non-negative decimal area measured in are. Use a period for decimals, such as 4 or 12.5; grouped numbers such as 1,250 are accepted, but decimal commas such as 1,5 are rejected to avoid ambiguity. Increasing ares increases every converted result in direct proportion. A common mistake is entering square metres in this field: divide square metres by 100 first.
Cents is also a required non-negative decimal when it is the field you edit. A realistic example is 10 cents. Increasing cents raises ares, square metres, and acres proportionally. Do not confuse a land cent with a currency cent. Entering negative area, scientific notation, mixed text, or more than one decimal separator produces a visible error rather than a silent reinterpretation.

Worked example

Because both units measure area, conversion is linear: doubling the source area doubles every result, and halving it halves every result. This makes the nearby table useful as a reasonableness check.
