What this calculator does. This tool estimates the calendar relationship between a sow's breeding date and her expected farrowing date. The 114-day rule is a practical herd-management average, often remembered as three months, three weeks, and three days. Calendar months are not equal in length, so the calculator performs exact day arithmetic instead of adding nominal months and weeks. Interpreting the planning window

Normal variation means a sow may farrow before or after the central estimate. Genetics, parity, litter characteristics, management, and individual biology can affect timing. Treat the 112- to 120-day window as a prompt for closer observation and preparation, not as proof that a sow is overdue or in distress. Keep breeding records, follow the herd's veterinary protocol, and seek professional advice for abnormal discharge, illness, prolonged labor, weak contractions, or any other welfare concern.

The milestone table is intentionally a calendar and record-keeping aid rather than a medical schedule.
