This calculator estimates when a doe may kid by adding a breed-based average gestation length to the breeding date. It also shows an earlier and later typical date, plus a practical milestone table for recordkeeping and preparation. The result is a calendar estimate, not a pregnancy diagnosis and not a guarantee that labor will begin on a particular day. The Merck Veterinary Manual's overview of pregnancy in goats describes a usual gestation range of about 145 – 155 days and an average near 150 days.
When to use it

Breed type is required and accepts one of two options. “Standard goat – 150 days” is suitable for a general full-size-goat planning estimate; “Miniature goat – 145 days” uses the shorter average commonly applied by simple breed-category calculators. Changing this field shifts the expected date and all milestones. A common mistake is treating the category average as a precise breed-specific biological rule.
Breeding date is required and must be a real date from 1900 through 2100 in the browser's date-entry format. A realistic example is July 1, 2026. Later breeding dates move every result later by the same number of days. Do not enter the date pregnancy was confirmed unless that was also the breeding or exposure date.

The broad typical window runs from day 145, November 23, 2026, through day 155, December 3, 2026. A 150-day gestation is also shown as 21 weeks, 3 days. How the estimate should be interpreted
Calendar arithmetic is exact, but the biological event is variable. Gestation can be affected by breed, litter weight, environment, and parity. A doe carrying multiple kids may not follow the same timing as one carrying a single kid. Practical recordkeeping and common mistakes
Record the breeding date at the time of exposure, identify the doe and sire separately in herd records, and keep veterinary findings alongside the calculated dates. Avoid relying on memory, confusing the date a heat cycle was observed with the actual breeding date, or treating the average date as a deadline.
